“Tennis: Past & Present” Newport 2016 Conference

The Second International Conference on the History of Tennis was held in the Casino Theatre, The International Tennis Hall of Fame, Newport, RI, USA 17 & 19 May, 2016.

The Real Tennis Society was very kindly hosted by The International Tennis Hall of Fame for the  Second International Conference on the History of Tennis during the week of the men’s World Championship, 17-21 May, 2016.

The Conference was held in the newly renovated Casino Theatre (Tuesday 17 May and Thursday 19 May, 10am-1pm both days) with papers by scholars and artists from the: US, UK, France, Italy, Canada and Australia. In addition to the Conference, Frederika Adam curated a group Exhibition of contemporary art – Court Tennis Contemporary – at the Newport Art Museum, along with a Hall of Fame Tour, Book-Signing Reception and Conference/Exhibition Wine Dinner at Fluke Wine Bar & Kitchen (featuring wines by Robert Sinskey Vineyards) to honor the speakers and artists.
